My audience research

I handed out a questionaire to students at my college. This way i would be able to find out what kinds of things college students would like to see. From my questionnaire I found that only 50% of the students chosen would actually read the college magazine. This shows that although 15% of students would pay for a magazine. This shows that my magazine will have to be free. I have found the kind of things that people would want included in the magazine such as university information, fashion and events etc. From this information gathered I have found what I would have to include in my contents page. I have found that on my front cover people expect to see a main image, and a masthead. These are the two main things that are expected, although I would put my main stories on the cover so that people would know what to expect from the pages inside. 70% of people said that they would be more likely to buy a magazine if it included freebies. Although I would not be able to charge for the magazine in the first few issues, when I attract a more of an audience by understanding what they want. When I first brought out the magazine I would have to have a small amount of pages. If the magazine became more popular, I would be able to charge a small price for the magazine, meaning that I would be able to increase the number of pages included. I would have to publish a new magazine monthly to make sure that enough time is taken on the production of the magazine. Also to make sure people take an interest in the magazine, I would use an online version that people can easily access. 20% of the people questioned said they would be willing to help with the production of the magazine. This means that we could maybe include students in the production if needed.
