My colour mood board
In my colour moodboard I decided to include colours that I think I would like to use on my final magazine design. I also included a magazine cover and a range of different images to create a wider understanding of the image I am trying to create through the colours used. Before I made my moodboard I decided to research different semiological meanings behind different colours, and what the colours may say about the target audience. The colour yellow shows optimism, enlightenment and happiness. This suits my target audience well as shades of gold and yellow tend to show a positive future. As my target audience are ambitious and tend to be positive about life, I thought that this colour would be perfect for my magazine. The colour blue is seen as trustworthy and committed. Blue is also the colour of the sky and the ocean. As my magazine is a Californian lifestyle music magazine blue is a colour that will make the reader think of blue skies, hot days and surfing. This for people who live in England could be something that they desire. Green is a colour that helps to sooth the mind; it is relaxing mentally as well as physically. The colour green brings connotations of nature and peace. This draws my target audience’s attention as they are more than likely laid back and relaxed people. I decided that I may use black as one of the base colours for the magazine as this colour shows sophistication, power and wealth. Each of these aspects is important to my target audience as they take pride in their appearance and have high aspirations. The colour black also could represent unhappiness and depth. This could be good to make my target audience wider and make the magazine fit to a bigger range of people. If someone wore the colour black they could feel misunderstood or even mysterious. The colour says “notice me, but do not question me”.
